Our Journey Begins

Our journey, in essence, began when we first met each other on September 29th, 1999. While we were first dating was when we discovered that we were both interested in adoption. Well, it wasn't until about 4 years after we were married (Sept. 29, 2001) that we started thinking about adding children to our family. We decided that we would try for biological children first and then try to adopt later. So, we tried for a year to get pregnant and all the while we were trying to seek out God's will for us and we were praying that God would bless us with children. Well, when a year came and went and we were still not pregnant, we began to think through our options. Our two main options were fertility treatments or adoption. After much prayer and discussion we decided to pursue adoption and it was looking back on some of the early days of our relationship and what we had discussed that helped us decide to pursue adoption. God had a different plan for adding children to our family and we are so glad he did. The longer we are in this process, the more right it feels because we are all God's adopted children and He has made us His own. Adoption is a re-creation of God's story and it is a vivid picture of how, whether adopted or biological, all children are on loan to us from God. We are so thankful for this amazing journey that God has started us on and we can't wait to see where he takes us.
